GB Govt to encourage investment in energy sector: CM Mehdi
Islamabad, March 18: Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah has said the provincial government will encourage entrepreneurs to invest in energy sector in the area.
Talking to a delegation of Industrial Power Service in Islamabad, he said fifty thousand megawatt hydro power can be generated from rivers, streams and other water reservoirs available in Gilgit-Baltistan, which will help remove shortage of electricity in the country.
The Chief Minister called for setting up national and local grid stations to connect Gilgit-Baltistan with the country.
He said that in Gilgit-Baltistan, the present demand of electricity is two hundred megawatt while production is one hundred and twenty megawatt, but it has further decreased during winter due to less flow of water in nullahs.
