Improvement In Law & Order Helps Promote Tourism In GB: CM
GILGIT: Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan, Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman said Thursday that improvement in law order situation due to effective policies and continued efforts of the government and law enforcement agencies has resulted promotion of tourism sector in the province that would directly benefit common-man. Presiding over a high-level meeting about the law and order situation in GB here today, the Chief Minister said peace has been established in the province due to efforts of Government and law enforcement agencies that immensely helped promoted tourism sector in the province.
Keeping in view arrival of a large number of tourists to GB this year like we saw in the past, the chief minister said traffic system was being improved and efforts are being made to ensure smooth flow of traffic in all the tourists areas. He said political demonstrations and public meetings under right of expression was real essence of democracy but no one would be allowed to block roads and highways. He said blocking of roads and highways created hurdles in smooth flow of traffic besides wasting time of people and tourists.
The CM directed all the district administration and police to ensure that public meetings should be held at specific places so that roads and highways should not be closed and traffic continues smoothly. He said taking NOC from Deputy Commissioners should be ensured prior of public meetings and demonstrations. Strict action would be taken against elements using block tinted glasses in vehicles, cars, fancy number plates and driving without helmet besides ensuring implementation of the ban imposed on the driving of children.
The Chief Minister directed improvement of traffic system in all the districts besides ensuring the use of helmet for motorcyclists on inters provincial highways and roads for safety of people. The CM also directed Secretary Home and IGP to take cogent measures for improvement in the condition of police stations and made elaborate arrangements for provision of furniture, establishment of conference rooms and sanitation in all police stations for which all the required resources would be provided by the government.
The Chief Minister said full proof security measures should taken on all border districts besides activation of seasonal check-posts and better arrangements for living of jawans there. Effective measures should be taken for further improvement of intelligence and communication system in the passes areas and GB scouts should be deployed in sensitive areas, he said, adding Special Branch of GB Police should be activated besides increasing deployment of police force in sensitive districts. The Chief Minister directed that CCTV cameras in all those hotels where foreign tourists stay should be installed for security besides implementation of standard operating procedures for safety of tourists.
