Pak China Sost Dry Port under the threat of Taliban

Sost Gojal: Panic spread across Hunza district as SHO Sost Gojal Hunza police station Sahib Khan issued a letter Pak China Sost Dry port, China Road & Bridge Corporation – CRBC camp in Gulmit and a hotel in Sost, notifying that Taliban has warned to attack these places.

SHO Rajab Ali  as directed the Dry port management to not park
any container/trucks outside the dry port premise and to not exit after 4:00 PM.

Responding to the direction of SHO Sost police station, the administrator Ahmed Khan has said that the Dry port hasn’t that much capacity to park all the vehicles within the premise of Dry port. We discharge all trucks after unloading.  He has requested to increase security nearby the dry port.

The security chief of Pak China Sost Dry Port, said that the port security is not that much equipped to tackle this kind of situations and the boundary walls of the port building is not protected too.

Pak China Sost Dry Port is the only port which facilitates trade among China and Pakistan.

The security of CRBC camp in Gulmit and Hotel Sky Bridge which is under use of CRBC has been increased.

KaraKorm Security Force KSF has been deputed in Chipursan Valley, the valley is situated at North West of Pakistan along Afghanistan border.

It is worth mentioning that the security sensitivity of Gilgit Baltistan and KaraKorm Highway has increased after CPEC project started.

Earlier this year, Pakistan Army as announced to raise a special force to protect the workers of CPEC. During the visit of Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Raheel Sharif to China earlier this month, He met Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing. The security of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was specifically discussed. Sharif assured the security of the project and the Chinese workers.
