Pakistan Highway Authority plans to link Gwadar with China’s Khunjerav region
ISLAMABAD: National Highway Authority (NHA) has planned to connect Khunjerab with Gwadar Port, under the umbrella of China Pakistan Economic Corridor.
According to officials, the 2,100-kilometer China Pakistan Economic Corridor would include special economic zones, railway system and a model city, airport as well as the free port at Gwadar.
A feasibility study of the CPEC project has been completed; however, the construction contract is likely to be awarded in 2015 to the successful bidders, National Highway Authority (NHA) officials have reported.
Balochistan is resource rich province of Pakistan. Gwadar deep sea port and Gwadar industrial zones are two key mega projects of Pakistan for national progress and regional economic integration.
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a landmark project, which will connect Pakistan’s deep sea Gwadar port with China’s Xinjiang region.
Both the Pakistan and China are discussing a number of mega projects under the rubric of Economic Corridor in several fields like energy, infrastructure and connectivity which would revitalize Pakistan’s economy.
