PIMA unit established in Gilgit baltistan
Gilgilt, 30 May 2016: Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) has established it’s unit in Gilgit Baltistan (GB). With consensus, Dr Jan Alam was nominated as president and Dr Afzal Siraj as Secretary of PIMA GB. The oath taking ceremony was held during the 2-day visit of PIMA Central President Dr Abdul Malik in a local hotel. He was accompanied by Past PIMA Presidents Dr Muhammad Iqbal Khalil, Dr Misbahul Aziz and Prof Sohail Akhtar on 2-3 May 2016. They participated in meetings with local doctors in Chilas and Gilgit.
A clinical meeting was held at Gilgit with lectures on “Tobacco; Medical, Social and Religious Aspects” by Prof Sohail Akhtar, and “Prevention of Blindness in Pakistan” by Dr Misbahul Aziz. Dr Iqbal Khalil presented PIMA introduction. Dr Abdul Malik, Central PIMA President reminded that doctors should practice with zeal, improve their knowledge and skills and utilize all sources for the patient’s betterment only to seek the pleasure of Allah. “PIMA is not just working for improving doctor’s professional skills but also contributing to the implementation of medical ethics, he said.”
