President Mamnoon Hussain Addressing a function at Karakoram International University in Gilgit

Gilgit, Oct 22 (Sost Today): President Mamnoon Hussain has urged the youth to acquire contemporary education for sustainable socio-economic uplift of the country.

Addressing a function at Karakoram International University in Gilgit on Wednesday, he said the country is blessed with natural resources which can only be best utilized and exploited by an educated nation.

The President, who is also the chancellor of the University, underscored the need for initiating faculty development programmes in education institutions in order to impart quality education to the youth. He said a series of steps have been taken to bring in new investment and enhance electricity production.

About Pak-China economic corridor, the President said this will open up new vistas of opportunities and generate economic activities in the entire country including Gilgit Baltistan.

Earlier the President held a series of meetings with the Governor, Chief Minister, Parliamentarians, notables and people from various walks of life.

President Mamnoon Hussain has expressed the hope that packages announced by the Federal Government for Gilgit-Baltistan will bring a significant change in the lives of people of the area.

The President said government attaches great importance to speedy completion of all development projects in the area.

The President said every effort would be made to bring Gilgit-Baltistan at par with the developed regions of the country. He said that the chain of Special Economic Zones under “vision 2025” of present government will be started from this area.

The President said that construction of various dams including Bhasha, Bunji and Dasu will not only meet our energy requirements but also generate huge economic opportunities for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
