The Government of Pakistan is bond to provide subsidy to Gilgit Baltistan

According to the conventions of United Nations Organization the countries are bond to give subsidy to the disputed areas under their supervision. On august 1949 Pakistan and India both accepted the status of Gilgit Baltistan as disputed territory.
On 1972 during Shimla Pact between Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Gandhi, Gandhi asked about Gilgit Baltistan because India was already giving subsidy to Kashmir, after shimla pact Bhutto provided subsidy to Gilgit Baltistan till the decision of Kashmir. Initially Pakistan was giving subsidy on transportation and wheat but gradually the transportation subsidy was removed. Seventy percent of people in G-B are unaware about their political status by taking benefit of it the Government of Pakistan with the help of local government cut the wheat subsidy too.
It is no denying that IMF gives loan to Pakistan after the commitment of increasing rates. According to some political activist Pakistan has removed subsidy in context of commitment with IMF. It was need of the time to unite the people against the heinous crime of government so Jauhar Ali Khan memorial society called all parties conference where all political, religious and social organizations were present. A new platform was made namely Gilgit Baltistan Awami Action Committee-GB to get back the wheat subsidy. They decided to fight for one point agenda but they gradually increased their demands which they think their basic rights.
The removal of tax is another demand of the committee. According to international law” No taxation without representation” Gilgit Baltistan is exempt from all type of taxes but government has imposed taxes on people of Gilgit Baltistan illegally. Ninety percent people have given their mandate to the committee. The action committee is getting fame day by day; recently the opposition party in Pakistan’s senate has walked out in favor of Awami Action Committee. The committee have launched sit ins throughout G-B from fifteen April to undefined time. The people of G-B should support action committee to get their rights. It is also worth mentioning that Awami action committee has united the people in one platform in the history as a nation forgetting all their past strives.
The government should provide subsidy before the sit-ins conversion into long march otherwise it will be hard to control the situation. The international organizations of human rights should also put pressure on Govt of Pakistan to restore subsidies and provide other fundamental rights to the people of Gilgit Baltistan.
