Benazir Bhutto remembered on eighth death anniversary
The eight death anniversary of former prime #minister and #Pakistan #People’s Party (PPP) #chairperson #Benazir #Bhutto was observed across the country on Sunday.
Special prayers were offered in mosques for the soul of the PPP leader, who was the first woman prime minister of the Muslim world. A Quran Khawani was also held at the historic Liaqat Bagh in Rawalpindi, where Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in 2007. Party leaders and activists visited Liaqat Bagh to offer Fateha and to pay homage to the slain former prime minister.
Rallies from different cities and union councils including Taxila, Gujjar Khan, Murree, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, including PPP Labour Wing, doctors and Lawyers Wing, Women and Youth Wings arrived at the location.
Similarly, special congregations were held in small and major towns across the country including Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to pay tributes to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. Thousands of people attended these congregations. Several other activities were also organised to pay tributes to Benazir Bhutto on her death anniversary.
The largest ceremony, which was also the main event, was held in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Sindh, where BB is buried at the family mausoleum. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and important leaders of PPP including former PM Raja Pervez Ashraf, CM Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah, Aitzaz Ahsan, Rehman Malik, Manzoor Wattoo, Maula Bux Chandio and others spoke on the occasion and paid tributes to their slain leader.
Meanwhile, a Quran Khawani and Fateha were also arranged by the PPP at the residence of Leader of Opposition in National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah on Sunday for Benazir Bhutto’s soul, on her death anniversary. (dailypakistan)
