Sost Gojal: Clash erupts between Karakorm Security Force and Khunjerav National Park staff
SOST GOJAL, SOSTTODAY: A clash erupted between KaraKrom Security Force KSF and Khunjerav National Park staff at Kapreen Check post near Sost, toward Khunjerav on Thursday midnight. The fight started when the KSF guards dismantled a cottage in the area of Khunjerav, which was constructed by the Chinese Road and Bridge Construction company during the realignment of KaraKorm Highway KKH.
According to a detail the guards of KSF dismantled a cottage and tried to shift the material to their camp at Kapreen near Sost without the permission of Khunjerav National Park officials. The KSF guards with material loaded in a tempo were stoped by the KNP staff at the Kapreen Check post, where the fight among the both department started.
A source of Khunjerav National Park told Sost Today that KNP is a highly protected area, where no one is allowed to construct/ alter any existing premises or remove without the permission of the National Park official. The KaraKorm guards have tried to theft the cottage from the premise of National Park taking the advantage of the darkness.
The Karakorm Security Force KSF is for border protection, they are deployed at Kapreen (entrance to Khunjerav Valley) Chipursan and Misgar border areas. He further said.
The case was then brought to Khunjerav Villager Org KVO, a community based org working for wildlife protection in the Khunjerav area to settle the dispute between KSF and KNP. In this regards a meeting held at Sost.
Our correspondent at Sost told that the KVO could not resolve the matter. On the occasion the local community members expressed their anger and reservation against the KSF, where KVO lost their neutrality and turned into an opponent of the dispute.
The local community elders told Sost Today that the dismantled cottage and other property constructed in the area are owned by the local community. The local people have got nothing against the raw material used by CRBC to construct KKH, so the locals have the right to keep the left property of CEBC or the unused material. They said.
The CRBC officials kept themselves away from the fight by saying National Highway Authoity took charge from CRBC after completion of the project.
It’s worth mentioning that Khunjerav Villager Org has also submitted an application to NHA requesting to give the left property and materials to KVO, so they can those materials to construct animal shots in the area.
Another meeting has been called on Saturday at Sost to settle the fight. The meeting will be presided by DSP Hunza.
