Documentary: “Beyond the Heights” based on Samina Baig’s perilous voyage released in Islamabad
Islamabad, March 06 (Monitoring desk): A documentary film “Beyond the heights” produced and by Mirza Ali and directed by Jawad Sharif under Bi-Polar Productions and Karakoram Expeditions, officially released here at Serina Hotel Islamabad on Thursday March 05.
The doucmentry film “Beyond the Heights” is based on the mountainous adventures of mountaineer Samina Baig, the first Pakistani and youngest Muslim female to scale Mt. Everest.
Samina Baig & Mirza Ali are siblings from Shimshal Valley in the upper Hunza region of Pakistan. These young flourishing mountaineers from Pakistan embarked on a Mt. Everest expedition for gender equality & women empowerment. Samina Baig reached the summit of Mt. Everest on may 19th 2013, thus making history for Pakistan, being first female mountaineer, to reach the summit of Mt. Everest at the young age of 22. During the past three years, the two mountaineers have made two documentaries promoting youth outdoor education, awareness about mountaineering and women empowerment through adventure. Most of the mountain climbing expeditions were for gender equality and education. This documentary is about Samina’s journey from her remote mountain village to the top of Mt. Everest.
Speak at launching ceremony of Beyond the Heights at Islamabad Federal Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Aziz Ahmad Chaudry congratulated the producer of documentary (brother of Samina) Mirza Ali for bring in a concept of Women Empowerment through the Adventure sports in Pakistan. He also applauded the contribution of Serena for introducing the concept of Adventure Diplomacy.
“Islamabad Serena is doing remarkable job in foreign relations for Pakistan, in Actual it’s doing more than my Office it seems”. He added.
