Education background in Gilgit-Baltistan.

There was no education system in Gilgit-Baltistan in 1948 but gradually some students of GB moved toward different cities Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad for education. After completing their education the student returns to their city and they start teaching and other Profession, which become the start of Education system in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Praimary Schools in Gilgit Baltistan           1294 Nos.

Middle Elementary School  in GB              262 Nos.

High School in GB                                             198 Nos.

Higher Secondary School in GB                  23 Nos.

There are only two universities in Gilgit-Baltistan (karakuram International University and Baltistan University) but unfortunately there is no medical or engineering college due to which students of GB face many problems and left their homes for higher education.Same as in shigar there are 89 schools.

Primary School in Shiger                                77 Nos.

Middle Elementary School in Shiger         6 Nos.

High School in Shiger                                      6 Nos.

But unfortunately there education system is much more complicated and pathetic  especially Basha and Baraldo have no basic facilities of education foundation running these area education system  and they are working on development at there. Government must take interest on these area education and other issues.

Issues and Challenges

Education in GB faces a variety of issues and challenges . Students retention is a major ; for every 1000 children who enroll in Kathi class, fewer than half complete primary school. There are high repetition and dropout rates at each primary class. Provision of early childhood education is weak, and the medium of instruction in the early classes in often not appropriate to  the needs of the children. To be continue
