Fund misappropriation: Planning & Development Department, Gilgit-Baltistan rejects the new Building of Govt Boys High School Sost.

Sost, Gojal, Febraruy 28 (Sost Today) : Planning & Development Department, Gilgit-Baltistan has rejected the newly constructed building of Government Boys High school Sost Gojal Hunza, as the new building doesn’t meet the proposed standard.
According to the details in 2006 PC-1 was approved with project cost of PKR. 5,500,000 for construction of additional classes, laboratory and library in Govt Boys High School Sost.
A fund of PKR 5,500,000 was allocated to construct a RCC building. But the contractors have used Sheet for roofing instead of concrete. The funds have been misappropriated by people involved in this project and sub standard materials have been used. The project was stopped many times in these nine years due to delay in release of fund. Former CM Mahdi Shah, former speaker Wazir Baig and MLA Mutabiyat Shah visited the site in 2011. But the project couldn’t begin.
Finally DC Hunza ordered to resume the project during his visit to Sost in January this year.
The corruption was exposed, while the Planning & Development Department, Gilgit-Baltistan stopped the contractor.
Chairman School Management Committee, Didar Ahmed told Sost Today that the project was started to build new classes and Laboratory for the commencement of higher secondary level classes. The project was approved for a RCC building.
The contractor has misappropriated the fund and now blackmailing the GB government to provide additional funded then the tendered fund. He said.
On the other hand the contractor has said that the tender was approved before the blockage of KKH at Attabad. The granted fund is insufficient to construct RCC building, because the blockage of road at Attabad.
Director Planning & Development Department, Gilgit-Baltistan told us that the tender of 5, 5000,000 PKR was approved to construct an additional building at Govt Boys High School Sost. The tender was reviewed after formation of Attabad Lake, which blocked the KKH. The tender fund was increased to 6,000,000 to meet the extra expenditure due the blockage of KKH.
The construction process will be resumed next month and an investigation will be launched against the contractor. Said the director.
