Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly passes Contract Employees Regularization of Services Act 2014
Gilgit, March 11:The 34th Session of Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly continues on in Gilgit.
Deputy Speaker Jamil Ahmed presided.
In today’s session‚ the Legislative Assembly unanimously passed Gilgit-Baltistan Contract Employees Regularization of Services Act 2014.
Minister of Law Dr. Ali Madad Sher presenting the Act in the House said it would provide for the regularization of services of employees from Grade one to 18 appointed on contract basis.
The Act shall come into force at once and is applicable only for one time.
The Act‚ which will come into force at once‚ provides for regularization of services of contractual employees from Grade 1 to 18.
Responding to a question during question hours‚ Senior Minister Muhammad Jaffer said in Gilgit-Baltistan people will get ration from civil supply department as per past practice and there is no need for preparation of ration cards.
Minister for Works Bashir Ahmed said contract employees of Works Department and Water and Sanitation Authority will be regularized soon.
He said the government has requested the Federal Government for the release of five billion rupees for the payment of salaries of employees and bills of contractors.
Later‚ the Deputy Speaker adjourned session till tomorrow morning.
