Gilgit-Baltistan: Hunza, Nagar and Kharmang given the status of Districts

Gilgit- In an order issued by Ministry of Kashmir affairs and Gilgit Baltistan on July 16, it has been directed to the Government of Gilgit Baltistan that Hunza, Nagar and Kharmang to be granted the status of new Districts of Gilgit Baltistan through an amendment in “Gilgit Baltistan Empowerment and Self Governance 2009” order.
The number of districts in Gilgit Baltistan now increased to ten districts, which includes Astore, Diamer, Ghanche, Gilgit, Ghizer, Hunza, Kharmang, Nagar, Shigar and Skardu.
Previously Hunza and Nagar were single district with the name Hunza-Nagar and Kharmang was with Shigar district.
