Governor had no role in G-B elections: Mushahidullah
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister, Senator Mushahidullah Khan Sunday said that newly elected Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Bajees Tahir had no role in the forthcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) as he was a representative and symbol of federation.
Commenting on Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) reservations on Barjees’s appointment, he said that PPP had also appointed Qamar Zaman Kaira as Governor of G-B in their tenure.
It was a constitutional right of every citizen to contest from any part of the country, he said while talking to a news channel.
He assured that polls would be held in a free, fair and transparent manner and under the supervision of an interim set up.
To a question, he said the government was working for promotion of tourism and development in the area.
