Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Moorkhun Gojal inaugurated after 17 years.
Sost/Moorkhun, October 27 (Sost Today): Speaker GBLA Wazir Baig and MLA Mutabiyat Shah inaugurate the first ever Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School of Afgarch valley in Moorkhun village of Gojal Hunza on Saturday.
Director education department Gilgit Baltistan Mr. Majeed Khan was also present at the inaugural ceremony. Notables of Gojal and Hunza valley and people from various walks of life were present at the historical moment.
The Higher Secondary was initiated by the Afgarch community in post 90’s, specifically the community of Moorkhun who donated a building for the school (old building of Aga Khan Diamond Jubilee School).
Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School project (PC-) was officially approved in 1997 during the regime of the former Chief Executive of Gilgit Baltistan Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan. Since then the project didn’t get the attention of the political representatives and bureaucracy and the project was delayed to 17 years. The local community has to start their own bus service for the students. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) donated two buses for the community.
The building of the school has been completed through PC-1. Teaching staff will be deployed in the next phase through PC-4, which is yet approved. The local community is running this school without and Government budget.
Representative of the local community has asked the Government of Gilgit Baltistan to immediately approve PC-4 and self DDO ship for newly established Higher Sec School.
