Legal hunting in Khunjerav: Doulat Karim hunts an Ibex in KVO’s Conservational area
Sost Gojal, May 01(Sost Today): Doulat Karim, a businessman from Gojal-Hunza hunted an ibex in Khunjerav Villagers Organization KVO’s wildlife conservational area. He won 42 inches trophy.
Speaking to Sost Today Director finance and admin KVO, Shafiullah Baig said this was the last hunting of the session 2013-2014. This year KVO got permission of trophy hunting of 13 ibexes and three Blue sheep (One hunted), later on KVO got a permission of four more trophy hunting of ibexes on special recommendation of the Govt of Gilgit-Baltistan. He added.
In Gojal there are five wildlife conservational zones including Ghulkin, Khuyber, Passu, Shimshal and Khunjerav. Khyber got permit of seven Ibexes five hunted, Ghulkin seven permit five hunted, Shimshal got four permit for Blue Sheep two hunted, Passu got three permits and KVO got permit for 17 Ibexes and three Blue Sheep (one hunted).
According to the Director finance and admin of KVO the license fees for hunting are 150,000 PKR for Pakistani hunters and 3000 US$ for foreign hunters.
Answering to a question Shafiullah Baig said Chairman Senate standing committee Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Narcotics control; Senator Muhammad Talah Mehmood hunted three Ibexes in Khunjerav few days ago and He had obtained permit of three trophy hunting from Wildlife Dept of GB.
Today the Deputy Secretary Forest Dept GB Haider and Waleed Noor conservation officer Wildlife Dept has also visited the KVO administrative centre in Gircha Gojal.
Haider said that this organization has got worldwide recognition for protection of wild species, especially Ibex, Blue sheep and Snow leopard. The hunting quota will be increased in future. He further said.
