Plan International Pakistan facilitated a workshop on “Development and Synchronization of Bye-Laws for Civil Registration in Gilgit-Baltistan
Islamabad, Dec 30 (p r): Plan International Pakistan facilitated a workshop on “Development and Synchronization of Bye-Laws for Civil Registration in Gilgit-Baltistan i.e. birth, death, divorce and marriage in the capital city of Islamabad on 23rd December, 2014. This was part of the Universal Birth Registration (UBR) Project which is being implemented in GB and it is a tripartite project run and managed by LG&RD, AKRSP and NADRA. Over the last three years, Plan and AKRSP has computerized all 103 UCs and 6 MCs and has trained SUCs on birth registration and registering other vital statistics such as death, divorce and marriage. The LG&RD will take over this project post 2014 and all the events will be registered. This workshop facilitated by Plan has helped government in developing and standardization of Bye-Laws of Civil Registration for GB. The Secretary LG&RD, Director Gilgit and Baltistan regions, and all the deputy directors participated in the workshop along with LG&RD officials from other provinces such as Punjab, Sindh, and AJK for sharing their experience on civil registration. At the end of the day first draft of civil Registration for birth, death, divorce, and marriage was formulated which will be shared with concerned departments of GB government. This will be notified after vetting from all the concerned departments. This will help continue a sustainable Civil Registration section at LG&RD facilitating public at continuous basis.
