PTDC plans to market its picnic spots
ISLAMABAD, MARCH 18: The Pakistan Tourism Development Cooperation (PTDC) was preparing a comprehensive plan to market its various tourists destinations to families, students and foreign tourists.
“We are offering various packages to tourists wishing to visit Murree, Ayubia, Shogran, Naran, Lake Saiful Maluk, Swat Valley, Chitral (including Kalash Valley), Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu and Neelum Valley (Azad Kashmir),” said an official of PTDC while talking to APP.He said PTDC is making all efforts to boost domestic and foreign tourism in the country by offering various packages.
To a question, he said, the country’s tourism industry suffered a lot especially after the 9/11 incident, 2005-earthquake and floods, adding that foreign media also hatched conspiracies and got issued negative advisories for Pakistan from different countries.
“During the last summer season, a good number of individuals and groups came from different countries and visited famous tourist spots of the country,” he added.He said law and order situation in northern areas had improved and hoped that in the coming days the number of domestic as well as foreign tourists would increase manifold.
To a question, he said five-day colourful Swat Snow Festival 2014 ended would help promote tourism and project soft image of the country.“Holding of such events would create a positive impression about Pakistan that would be carried forward by the tourists, particularly those coming from abroad,” he said.
