Renewable Energy in Pakistan.
Renewable energy in Pakistan is a relatively underdeveloped sector; however, in recent years, there has been some interest by environmentalist groups and from the authorities to explore renewable energy resources for energy production, in light of the energy crises and power shortages affecting the country. Most of the renewable energy in Pakistan comes from hydroelectricity. Some other sources of renewal energy are solar power, photochemical, thermal, photosynthetic, sustainable agriculture, water resources and tidal power. Pakistan is situated on such geographical location that the energy can be obtained on a high level but due to air pollution, soil contamination, habitat destruction, industrial work, water pollution, deforestation and land degradation we are unable to use the resources.
Pakistan is facing through the crises of electricity, by using renewable energy we can generate large scale of electricity Solar power can convert sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaic’s (PV)(1.7 V), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaic’s convert light into electric current using the photoelectric effect. and other energies can also be used in the purpose. There are also some other problems we can solve by using renewal energy like global warming. But there are lots of hindrance some of which are economic, storage, literacy, utilities, traditions etc. The good news is that the barriers are being broken. Tradition has been tossed as utilities have had to grapple with state policies encouraging distributed generation and solar power and others have embraced pro-active measures to accommodate more local renewable energy. Crowd funding opportunities like those offered by Mosaic are giving people an unprecedented opportunity to pool their money to go renewable. The falling cost of solar is rapidly making incentives unimportant in many areas, reducing the problems caused by half baked, tax-based federal policy.
We the members of green earth society wants the government to remove the barriers and use renewable source of energy in the betterment of Pakistan and the benefits we are looking forward to from renewable source of energy are:
- Little to no global warming.
- Improved public health and environmental qualities.
- A vast and inexhaustible energy supply.
- Jobs and other economic benefits.
- Stable energy prices.
- A more reliable and resilient energy system.
- Generating electricity as per the requirement.
