The world is globalism due to information and communication technologies.
(Sost Today) By Waseem Sajjad: The world is globalism due to information and communication technologies. In our country, children watch cartoons on a daily basis for many hours but the problem is that those cartoons are either in English or are dubbed in Hindi. Furthermore, most cartoons are full of violence. Cartoons are one of the major sources of a child’s entertainment: a child learns from them and they have effects upon his or her personality. It is observed that children often speak the language which they pick up from cartoons and, as a result, they are being distanced from Urdu, as their language has started to include more and more Hindi words.
Watching violent cartoons creates a very bad impact; children become aggressive, rude and try stunts from cartoons, which can be dangerous. Our TV channels today are capable enough to dub cartoons in Urdu and telecast them. It is hence the responsibility of the Government and PEMRA to take this issue seriously, and improve the standard of cartoons because these children will be the future of our country. The airing of cartoons on television can be used to inculcate good traits and values among children. Everything should be done to ensure that an environment is created where this is made possible.
